    IDAHOT+ Forum 2022

    After a year of absence in 2020, and an online event in 2021, the IDAHOT+ Forum of the European Government Network of LGBTI+ Contact Points (EFPN) returns this year with an event on May 12, 2022 in Limassol. The event is co-organized by the Governments of the Republic of Cyprus and the United Kingdom, with the support of the Council of Europe and marks the celebrations around the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, Biphobia and Intersexphobia (IDAHOT).

What is more likely to solve the Cyprus problem or to have an openly gay president?

From the not-so-tolerant Cypriot society, to the small steps forward, and from whether the eponymous gays should outing the possibility that Cyprus will ever have an openly gay political leader (even a president!), 15 minutes is too little to cover such a large and important field. But we also tried the Costa Gavrielides, I have to admit, he is an extremely calm, comfortable and conscientious interlocutor.

Costa Gavrielides

Costa Gavrielides is a Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) specialist consultant. He has many years of experience advising governments and companies on strategies related to increasing diversity, promoting policies both within society and in the workplace. He has served as Advisor to the President of the Republic of Cyprus for the Promotion of Multiculturalism, Acceptance and Respect for Diversity (PASD) from May 2018 to February 2023 .He is also a member of the Bicommunal Technical Committee on Humanitarian Issues. Kostas is co-founder of Accept - LGBTI Cyprus and was the first elected President of the organisation from May 2012 to December 2017. He served on the Board of Directors of the pan-European LGBTI organisation ILGA-Europe from 2014 to 2018.
