It is with a sense of responsibility that I announce my candidacy for the position of member of the Political Bureau of the Democratic Rally. My decision stems from my deep belief in the democratic and liberal principles and values of the party and my will to work together to adapt our political priorities to the needs of the modern era, ensuring that DISY remains an ally and supporter of Cypriot society.
My candidacy focuses on Renewal, Cooperation and Inclusion and is about everything we can achieve together. Based on my long-standing social and political action, I aspire to be an agent of positive change that will help modernise DISY and keep it at the centre of the Cypriot political scene, transforming any cynicism and petty politics into unity, progressiveness and a perspective for the future.
As an LGBTQ person, I am well aware that our differences make us stronger. My goal is to promote the participation and emergence of new, diverse voices within DISY that will be the ingredients of its revitalization, growth, development and sustainability. I will make every effort to ensure that the diverse members of the party, who are hard to be heard, gain visibility and a voice that represents them by actively participating in decision making. At the same time, I will seek to strengthen DISY's enduring values based on respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and human rights.
As Advisor to the former President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, on issues of Multiculturalism and Diversity, I have the utmost respect for political processes and the importance of pluralism. This, after all, is what I have always done and continue to do as a member of civil society. As Policy Secretary and Coordinator of the LGBTI & DISY Allies Group, I had the honour to participate in the processes of the Politburo, gaining valuable experience and knowledge. Today, at a critical moment for our party, I feel the duty and above all the readiness to contribute to shaping the next day.
I invite you to share my vision for the Democratic Rally of tomorrow. Dedicated to the high ideals that have guided it since its foundation, we are ready to work together, with respect for each other, for a DISY that is participatory, united and liberal, representing the diverse needs of modern Cyprus and its citizens, without discrimination and exclusion.
